Feeling a bit Hong Kong Phoooey…

Urrrghh I’m feeling a bit fluey today and it doubly-sucks cos it’s a Monday as well!  It’s my own fault cos I was hanging round with a sick person on Friday night haha.  Bloody Craig!!  :-P

I woke up and was like Crap it’s Monday and I just wanna sleep…. but alas here I am getting sorted for what is probably the last time I will be doing the end of month stuff on my own! Will be taking my replacement, Nicola, through it next month I reckon so that’ll be weird…

Weekend was good…

I spent a good portion of Sunday flat on my back on the couch in the sun reading my book… alternating between snoozes and reading of course! Then I got jumped on by a certain ratbag Westie who was excited to see me after getting back from her walkies…

UK UPDATE: well I’ve sent off my UK Passport renewal and paid the $328.30 so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll get that back…

Feb 11th still seems so far away….  :(

Fly away Glitter Girl…

Well I felt it appropriate to post a farewell to my buddy GlitterGirl… she’s flying off into the sunset on a plane of some sort (it’s cheaper than buying GlitterFuel ya see…) to start her adventures in the UK…

GlitterGirl in disguise as B&W

I will miss her heaps and work is definitely not the same without her but I will hopefully track the wee dork down when I get over there next year and we’ll do some exploring of the surrounding areas in search of castles and gnomes and pixies and such….

I hope Bob and Frank keep an eye on ya and enjoy their time in front of the camera!

Safe travels GG!!!  :D

Beautiful cosmetic brushes

If you’re wanting some ultra-cool cosmetic brushes then go check out this awesome website and support this NZ family business!

 http://www.cosmeticbrushes.co.nz

They are honestly the best brushes I have ever used (and also the fact that I’m supporting a local NZ business is a great bonus for me, being a proud Kiwi and all!)

It’s so easy to get them as well because you can order them straight from the website and the delivery was really, really fast.

On a go slow…

Well it’s official… GG has left the building!  :(

It’s been three working days since Sarah left and it’s soooooo weird not having my wee buddy here to be a dork with!  Really miss the wee tart britches….

Feeling a bit all over the show at the moment to be honest and don’t know whether I’m Arthur or Martha! but that’s probably cos my name’s actually Amanda :P

Been going to bed at obscenely early times this week too… last night it was just after 7.30pm! God what a nana haha. AND on Monday night I had tea and promptly sat down on the couch and had a power nap for an hour :D

Ah well…. the first two things on my UK Countdown Plan are due to be actioned tomorrow…

  • Send away application to renew my UK passport
  • Ring the IRD re: my student loanage…

Feels GREAT to be starting to get the plan in action :D

George and Mildred have been having a few tif’s lately… they’ve been appearing on their own for this week and only yesterday were they here together! Plus George showed up on Monday with two “buddies” who I dont’ think were buddies cos they both kept chasing him away from the bread I was throwing them all!  Both were males so I dunno what’s going on there… maybe George confessed some deep dark secret to Mildred and now he’s on the outs?? Who knows :P

George & Mildred

Now you’re probably thinking I’m talking about the TV show : -

George and Mildred was a British sitcom produced by Thames Television that aired from 1976 to 1980. It was a spin-off of Man About the House and starred Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce as an ill-matched married couple, George and Mildred Roper.

…. when in actual fact I’m talking about the two ducks who have decided to make the front lawn at my work their home during the day!  Now I have no idea where they sleep but every morning they are on the lawn out front. So the other day I decided to feed them… after hearing that apparently they return to this lawn every year to have babies!

Of course they had to have names since I’ve started feeding them… and they now actually come up to the glass door at the entrance to the office and peck on the door as their way of asking for food! :D I mean how cute!!!!!

Risk…

RISK
Author unknown

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out to others is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas, your dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken,
because the greatest hazard in life is to do nothing.

The person who risks nothing,
does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing.

They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.

Chained by their attitudes, they are a slave,
they forfeited their freedom.

Only the person who risks can be free

What if…

“What if?”

This is a question that can torment people if they let it…

I’ve had recent examples of this and it isn’t good – Mine is a relationship “What if?….”

I met this guy ages ago, through my boyfriend at the time, and there was this mutual attraction that we both acknowledged at the time but there was nothing we could do about it so we just put it aside and went on with life. But it was always there if you know what I mean.  I’ve seen him a few times since I split from my ex and the feeling is still there but nothing can be done about it, which gets me thinking “What If” I had met him before he met his current partner?

Would my life have been completely different?

Would we be married?

Would I be happy?

“What if?” is a funny thing… cos you can always imagine the scenarios in your head but the reality is more often than not different from what the rose coloured glasses see…..
